A young angler's remarkable feat has captured the attention of the fishing world! Tucker Bass, a 12-year-old from Shoshoni, Wyoming, has made history with his incredible catch.
On a sunny August day in 2025, Tucker, with his dad John by his side, paddled their kayak on Lake Cameahwait, also known as Bass Lake. Little did they know, this outing would lead to a world record! Tucker's persistence paid off when he landed a 2-pound, 4-ounce largemouth bass, securing him the Junior 4-pound Line Class world record, officially recognized by the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) in November 2025.
But here's where it gets controversial... Tucker's achievement not only highlights his talent but also sparks a debate about the potential for record-breaking catches in Wyoming's waters. He's also achieved Trophy Angler status through Wyoming's Master Angler program and is well on his way to completing all the challenges in the Youth Fishing Challenge. However, Wyoming's overall state record for largemouth bass still belongs to Caleb Salzman, who caught an impressive 11.51-pound fish at Kleenburn Ponds near Sheridan in 2018. Salzman's catch measured an impressive 24.5 inches long with a 20.75-inch girth.
